When We First Met
We First Crossed Paths In 2011, Two Ambitious Teenagers, Nervously Clutching Cue Cards At An English Debate Competition. Back Then, We Were Just Competitors With Big Dreams And Sharp Words, Never Imagining How Deeply Our Stories Would Intertwine.
College Came, And Debate Brought Us Together Again Not Just As Rivals, But As Teammates Too. We Found Ourselves Standing Side By Side, Traveling To Cities All Across Indonesia, Arguing Sometimes Judging Passionately In Lecture Halls By Day, Laughing Over Cheap Street Food By Night. Win Or Lose, We Carried The Sting Of Defeat And The Thrill Of Victory Together.
Falling In Love? That Thought Never Even Crossed Our Minds. We Were Too Busy Proving Ourselves To The Judges, To Our Coaches, Or Maybe Even To Each Other.
From Rivals to Lovers
But In 2017, Something Changed. He Started Staying Back After Practice A Little Longer, His Questions Lingering Beyond Rebuttals And Motions. From Someone Who Once Didn’t Believe In ‘Ideal Relationships,’ He Slowly Became The One Who Insisted We Could Try Again, That Commitment Wasn’t So Impossible If It Was With The Right Person.
And So, On 20 May 2018, We Chose Each Other , But This Time Just The Quiet Promise That We’d Stand Side By Side This Time Not As Partners In Debate, But As Partner In Romance.
The Break in Our Journey
We Had Shared (for Almost 3years) Of Highs And Lows , Moments That Felt Like Winning Championships, And Moments That Felt Like Losing It All. And On 1 January 2021, We Did Lose . At Least, That’s How It Felt When We Decided To Part Ways And Became Just Friends Again.
Growing Apart to Grow Within
In That Space Apart, We Grew With Different People, With Different Lessons. We Found Parts Of Ourselves We’d Overlooked, Healed Old Wounds, And Tried To Love Again In Other Arms. But Somehow, The Echoes Of Our Laughter To Each Other, The Long Nights Talks, The Safe Feeling To Each Other, The Countless Journeys They Lingered.
Finding Our Way Back Home
By October 2024, We Both Knew. We Found Our Way Back , This Time Not Just To Share Another Debate Competition Stage, Not Just Partner For Lovey Dovie Teenage Romance But To Build Something Far Bigger -A Life A Family. We Realized No One Could Ever Come Close To Knowing And Loving Us The Way We Know And Love Each Other.
In Each Other, We Found A Presence Like No Other , Someone Who Loves The Same Food, Who Gets Just As Excited For Marvel Movie Marathons, Who Laughs At The Same Jokes No Matter How Many Times We Tell Them. More Than Anything, We Found The Highest Form Of Love: Friendship - A Bond That Holds Us When Romance Flickers, A Warmth That Stays When Life Tests Us.
This Time, We Don’t Need A Judge To Declare Us Winners . We Choose Each Other Every Day, And That Is Enough.
